Aleea Jaques paints figures who feel as though they have stepped out of a story mid-scene. Her work captures the humor, joviality, awkwardness and drama that exist in everyday social moments.
Using expressive brushwork and vibrant color, Jaques creates stylized figures with distorted forms and distinctive personalities. Unexpected details—oversized hats, animals, martinis, fruit —add layers of narrative that invite viewers to imagine the relationships and stories unfolding within each piece.

Both playful and sophisticated, her paintings celebrate the individuality of her figures while reflecting the universal quirks of human nature. Each work offers a glimpse into a moment that feels familiar, mysterious, and slightly theatrical.
